When you’ve had landscape lighting fixtures installed, enhancing your patio and planting beds, it is especially beautiful in the evenings with illumination of your walk ways and trees. Of course, you want to keep it looking fantastic. The following tips can keep your landscape lighting looking beautiful or help make older lighting “pop” again:
- Clean the fixtures, removing dirt and debris from the fixture cap and stem. Use a mild, non-abrasive soap, water and a soft cloth. A gentle cleaning can make old fixtures look new again.
- Clean all bugs and dirt from the underside of the fixture cap and the glass shroud (if your light has one) to allow more light to reflect down and around the fixture.
- Replace your old Halogen bulbs with new LED bulbs. A 3-watt LED bulb is comparable to a 20-watt Halogen bulb. Note: for a warm white color use either 2700k or 3000k bulbs!
- Reposition your light fixtures or trim back leaves and branches that have grown over and around the fixtures.
- Adjust any landscape light, which is off kilter. Nothing can make your landscape lighting look old or poorly installed than a fixture that looks like the “Leaning Tower of Pisa”
